The Walden Effect: Farming, simple living, permaculture, and invention.

everett

Hello, my name is Everett and I am a wannabe high-tech hillbilly. Having been an urban farmer in Denver for several years, I am now moving with my wife to the Appalachian region of southwestern Virginia - close to where the main trunk on both sides of my family tree have grown for more than a century. We are lucky enough to have found a farm in one of the few rural areas in Appalachia to have high speed internet access, which allows me to continue my career as an SEO consultant while learning some of the rural skills that were lost when my grandparents moved to Cincinnati for factory work.

As we walk down this road I've been trying to keep track of our journey via several blogs:
Living a Simple Life - How-to tips, DIY advice, ramblings and journal entries on our quest to find a balance between technology and simplicity.
Living Off Grid - For the more hardcore folks who seek to drop off the grid and live as self-sufficiently as possible.
Blue Ridge Farmstay - Our rental cabins (coming soon) which we hope to use as a side-business as we diversify our income to spread out risk.
Simple Living Skills - A YouTube channel where we post videos for our Living a Simple Life blog.

I am also on Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In and several other social networking sites:

Come say hello at one place or another and let me know if you have a blog of website of your own that I should be reading. I'm subscribed to the Walden Effect and check my blog reader for new posts from Anna and Mark almost every day.

About us: Anna Hess and Mark Hamilton spent over a decade living self-sufficiently in the mountains of Virginia before moving north to start over from scratch in the foothills of Ohio.
